Should I do them? For how long? Body is suppose to be in a straight line right? Will it give me a six pack? Can I do it every day like these "challenges" instruct me?....
These are the common questions concerning just about every popular ab exercise in society today. Planks are an amazing core exercise, that also works many other muscles too! The problem is how it is instructed to be done. I've been doing planks for years, and only recently found out they were ALWAYS done wrong thanks to Dr. Cholewa(http://JasonCholewa.com). Your core muscles work all day, every day; why not strengthen them? They should get rest periods too, where they aren't strained EVERYDAY. Six packs are visibly seen when body fat percentage is lowered; based more on nutrition than training. You can't out-train a poor diet. The challenges account for none of this.

Notice the curve of the spine, NOT a straight line. Four focus points all maximally contracted; Back pushed upward, glutes(bottom) flexed, quads(thighs) flexed, abdominals(core) flexed as if it were pulling your hips towards your face.
